milking research and instruction

The University of Wisconsin Milking Research and Instruction Laboratory was founded in 1990 and housed in the Biological Systems Engineering Department Laboratory on the UW-Madison campus.  The lab has become an internationally recognized center for research and education on machine milking.  The faculty and staff have been active participants in the development of U.S. and International standards for milking machines, machine milking activities of the International Dairy Federation, and regulatory review of automatic milking systems in the U.S.

The following pages are designed to provide you with the latest information from the Milking Research and Instruction Lab with academic papers, how-to manuals and resources to improve your milking equipment and facilities.
